Have you heard of a Deliberately Developmental Organization (DDO)? 

I hadn’t until a few months ago, but I love the idea and have been going deep on it.

In a DDO, the purpose of the company is the personal evolution of everyone involved. It treats profits and personal growth as two aspects of the same thing vs. separate components of a business.

Right now building a deliberately developmental company is a very nascent idea, but I believe that the future of work will expand our careers from paychecks and security to transformational containers.

🧬 Innovation In “The Field”

Nudge has raised $100 million Series A round to build “the best technology for interfacing with the brain to improve people’s lives,” starting with medical needs, and ultimately moving toward broader applications. They point out the large gap in brain health (mental disorders, chronic pain, neurological disease) and argue that traditional pharma/surgery haven’t been able to reach deep brain structures at scale. They’re using a method called transcranial focused ultrasound (TUS) — delivering ultrasound waves through the skull to stimulate and image brain circuits without surgery.

Adriana Alcaraz-Sánchez is a philosopher of consciousness at the University of Edinburgh has led research documenting rare “objectless” dreams in which people experience a pure, content-free awareness during sleep. Her team surveyed 573 individuals and conducted deep interviews with 18 participants uncovering states “devoid of sensory content” in which selfhood and imagery dissolve. These findings may bridge the gap between ordinary dreaming, meditative states, and the fundamental nature of consciousness.
