Leader Spotlight
Andy Ellwood is a new dad and is thinking a lot about groceries. As a repeat founder with more scars than trophies, Andy is the Founder and CEO of Stretch, the first AI powered shopping list that brings pricing transparency and personalization to shoppers and intent interpretation to retailers and brands.

What problem is your company solving and what made you feel like this had to exist?
84% of Americans are worried about the price of feeding their family and having trade down in both quality and the amount of food they purchase. The entrenched inefficiencies in the grocery industry have no accountability or shopper advocate to combat the 31% price increase in groceries since the pandemic. Price visibility and transparency exists for every other use of the household budget, but not for groceries. Stretch is solving that for the 100mm Americans that deserve dignity and choice when feeding their families this week.
What’s your favorite transformational resource, experience, or practice, and how has it impacted how you build the company?
I have had a journaling practice since I was 14. I realized at a young age that the speed of thoughts in my head would never slow down until I put pen to paper and was intentional about each letter I wrote. It has carried me through the ups and the downs of life and I see patterns emerge in my writing that offer me insights that nothing else does. Slowing down to sharpen my mind allows me to speed up when I finish each entry and return to the work at hand.
What’s an unconventional belief you hold?
We don't rise to the level of our potential, we rise to the level of our expectations. If you don't expect more from yourself, your community, or your world, you will rarely unlock it and the person you have the ability to become will never fully emerge.
